HR Cares Rx/SLMM Enterprises, LLC is an accomplished, trusted strategic human resources consultancy firm with a proven 23-year track record in human resources (HR) and community relations. Sharon L. Middleton McGhee, President/Founder is a connector, and strategic thinker with many years of serving in leadership roles. She is an excellent communicator and skilled in building positive relationships. Ms. McGhee is hardworking and has a strong work ethic. Recognized within the local community and across the state. HR Cares Rx's aim is to provide human resources solutions that improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness for our clients.
HR Cares Rx is a strategic human resources consulting firm that helps businesses achieve their strategic goals by providing human resources services. Our mission is to assist firms in evaluating their human resource possibilities and recommending solutions to improve organizational effectiveness and employee engagement and morale.
Founder
Sharon Middleton McGhee is a firm believer in assisting individuals and businesses in identifying their goals and developing strategies to achieve them. She feels that if she has the access, expertise, and resources to help someone else, it opens the door for others to do the same. She recognizes the value of networking, but she believes that developing relationships, which she embodies and communicates to others, is even more vital. Sharon provides career counseling, conflict resolution, business development, diversity and inclusion, human resources, and leadership development to individuals in a variety of methods. Coaching and counseling are something she enjoys doing because they allow her to give back.
Experience
Ms. McGhee is currently the President of HR Cares Rx and SLMM Enterprises, LLC, a strategic human resources and diversity and equity consulting company that provides strategic human resources consulting, coaching, diversity and inclusion training, leadership development, training, and business development. She also teaches at the College of Charleston as an Adjunct Professor. The City of Charleston has certified SLMM Enterprises LLC as an MBE.
She previously worked for the Charleston County Aviation Authority as the Minority, Women, and Small Business Administration Coordinator, where she oversaw diversity, inclusion, access, and equality activities at Charleston International Airport (CHS). Building relationships and partnerships with minority, women-owned, small enterprises, non-profits, private, governmental, and educational institutions were among the objectives. She also established and oversaw the Airport's first college internship program in airport management, which aimed to introduce students of color and women to the field of aviation administration. Ms. McGhee worked at the Aviation Authority for 16 years as the Director of Human Resources.
Education
Ms. McGhee is a doctorate student at Northcentral University earning a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership and Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Management.
Recognition
Ms. McGhee is a graduate of Furman University's Diversity Leadership Initiative, the Leadership Charleston program of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership South Carolina. Our revolutionary diversity and inclusion programs and activities, in cooperation with the South Carolina Airport Coalition (CHS), were awarded as Outstanding Business by the Furman Diversity Leadership Initiative. Charleston International Airport awarded the 2020 Airports Council International-North America Inclusion Award - Small Hub Airport in recognition of Ms. McGhee's diversity and inclusion efforts. She also earned the Charleston YWCA - What Women Bring Award in 2020. She mentors entrepreneur students and current and former interns at the College of Charleston.
Participation in the Community
She serves on the Lowcountry Housing and Economic Development Board as a board member. The Charleston Illumination Project's facilitator. Ms. McGhee was a co-founder of the South Carolina Airports Coalition. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, the Business Department Advisory Committee at Trident Technical College. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the YWCA Greater Charleston Board of Directors, and the Net Economic Community Development Corporation Board of Directors.
She has spoken at conferences such as DigSouth, Airports Council International-North America - Business of Airport Conference, Women's Entrepreneurs of Charleston, Conference for Women Center for Women, 2019 Women of Color Entrepreneurs, Clemson University Lowcountry Student Summit, YWCA What Women Bring, IHOPE Financial Summit, and Charleston Southern University as a guest lecturer.
Activities Outside of the Classroom
Reading, traveling, and genealogy are some of her favorite pastimes.
